How long is an average setlist? ›

Depends if you're in an original band or a cover band. In my city cover bands typically play 3x 45 minute sets. In my experience, that means approximately 12 - 15 rock/pop songs. Less if you extend solos, of of you have a lot of talking between songs.

Things vary a lot depending on the type of music and length of the sets you'll be playing, but if 12 songs is an average set, think of the tunes in three- or four-song clusters. Try to find movement in those segments, from slower to faster tempos (or fast to slow), or group similar themes or moods together.

That depends on the style of music you play, and the amount of time you devote to each song. If you were to devote 4 minutes to each song, then you would play about 25 songs in 2 hours. And if you were to devote 2 minutes to each song, then you would play 50 songs in 2 hours.

Cover band about 3 sets 10-12 songs each set. Originals band usually one 45-60 min set, 7-10 songs. It's about the same outlay of energy for each band. The longer cover gigs more a marathon; for the shorter originals shows we were often headlining, so there's more pressure and the energy is compressed.
